Innovative Design for a Sustainable Future: Transforming Waste into Opportunity

The Circular Cities Challenge is a week-long program that brings together 26 emerging creatives from Barcelona and beyond to develop circular design strategies aimed at addressing urban challenges. Through collaborations with key stakeholders such as Mercabarna, UPC-EIT InnoEnergy, Reimagine Textile, and Materfad, participants work in interdisciplinary teams to transform waste materials into innovative prototypes.

These projects focus on solutions in food, energy, textiles, and natural waste. The outcomes of the challenge were showcased in an exhibition at Barcelona’s CosmoCaixa, accompanied by a documentary and an e-book feature.

As the Art Director for this project, I led the visual and creative direction from concept to exhibition. I collaborated closely with the amazing designer Aina to bring the project’s vision to life, ensuring the designs aligned with the circular economy themes. I also handled the photography of the final prototypes, capturing their essence and impact. Additionally, I curated the layout and visual flow of the exhibition at the Museo de la Ciencia CosmoCaixa, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for the audience.
